Tree trimming
Tree pruning limits growth, preserves beauty and prevents tree loss.
Make sure your tree retains its distinctive character and splendor by taking preventive tree trimming measures to encourage its growth, while taking into account the particularities of your terrain.
What is tree pruning?
Tree pruning is a procedure designed to remove lateral branches and, in some cases, the top of a tree. When branches threaten the safety of motorists, pruning is a welcome solution. Pruning is also used to remove tree tops that interfere with the power grid. Our experienced pruners apply safe techniques to protect your property at all times.
Pruning vs. trimming: What’s the difference?
Don’t confuse pruning with trimming. Pruning is often seen as an alternative when pruning is unsuitable, but unfortunately the two terms are often confused. Each has its own characteristics, depending on the desired result. Pruning is recommended to reduce weight in the upper part of the tree while preserving its overall structure. It is in fact a more severe form of pruning, involving more aggressive cuts. It is crucial not to prune excessively low so as not to damage the tree’s health.

Benefits of tree trimming:
- Limits its growth, preserves its beauty and prevents tree loss.
- Used to open up a space to bring more light into your plot, pool or garden. By reducing the surface area of the tree, you preserve it and increase the amount of sunlight on your property.
- Useful in the event of a natural disaster (high winds, icy conditions, heavy snow), when there are no other possible solutions for preserving the tree.
- Pruning can be suggested when there's little room for the tree in the plot and you want to keep it. In this case, pruning reduces the size of the tree.
- Trimming can be suggested when there's little room for the tree on the land and you want to keep it. In this case, pruning reduces the size of the tree.

Tree pruning often results in the appearance of other branches, called gourmands, which are usually vertical on the trunk. It’s important to prune them too, as they will be weaker. The trunk becomes stronger and more resistant.
Trimming maintenance
When a tree has been pruned, it is suggested to maintain it with a pruning every three to six years.
How to recognize a trimming operation?
You can recognize a tree that has been trimmed by its shape: the surface area of the trunk is not proportional to the tree's height.
Pruning and cutting all the branches off a tree, leaving only the trunk, are two different things. We don't encourage this kind of tree-cutting, which is all too often confused with pruning, which is ultimately what we call a "clipping", a form of felling. Unfortunately, many customers confuse a tree trimmer with a tree pruner. The techniques and equipment used are fundamentally different. Pruners often tend to cause damage to trees, while trimmers seek to preserve them.
